What the Billing tab is for

The Billing tab is where you see every invoice DMARC Engine has issued you. It is a read-only record: a self-service archive of your receipts that you or your finance team can download at any time. In short, it answers one question: where are my receipts.

Signing up for DMARC Engine is free and self-serve. You can create an account and use the platform without entering any plan or payment details, so there is no plan to choose at signup and no card required to get started. If you have a paid arrangement with us, your invoices are entered by our team out of band and then appear here for you to view and download. There is no in-product upgrade, downgrade, cancellation or payment-method flow; for any change to a paid arrangement, you contact the team.

Billing sits inside the account settings area, alongside your profile, your organisation details, your security controls and your team. This guide walks the tab top to bottom so you can find anything quickly, and it explains how billing relates to the rest of the platform.

A note on permissions. Billing is an organisation-level concern, so it is normally restricted to administrators. If you are signed in as an editor or a viewer you may see the Billing tab in a read-only state, or not at all, depending on your role. Roles are explained in team and roles. If you cannot reach billing and you think you should be able to, ask an administrator on your account to change your role on the Team tab.

Getting to the Billing tab

The dashboard lives at https://app.dmarcengine.com. Sign in with your email and password, and supply your two-factor code if you have that switched on (see security and 2FA).

In the dashboard, open Settings (the path is /settings). Settings is a tabbed page. Across the top you will see seven tabs, in this order:

  • Profile: your personal name and login email.
  • Organization: the company-level name, contact email and timezone.
  • Security: two-factor authentication, sessions, password and login activity.
  • Notifications: where alerts and reports are delivered.
  • API Keys: programmatic access tokens.
  • Team: the people on your account and their roles.
  • Billing: your invoices.

Click Billing, the last tab. Everything described from here on lives on that one tab.

If you are setting up the account for the first time, it is worth visiting Profile and Organization first, because the details there feed your invoices and receipts. We cover those briefly below before returning to billing proper.

Before you start: the details that appear on your invoices

Two earlier tabs hold the information that shows up on your billing documents, so it pays to get them right before you download anything.

Profile

On the Profile tab you control your own identity on the account:

  • Profile Name: your display name, shown around the dashboard and in activity logs.
  • Email: your login email. This field is read-only here. It is the address you sign in with and the one tied to your personal account, so it cannot be edited from this screen.
  • Save Profile: writes any change to your profile name.

Your personal email is not necessarily the address that receives billing notices; that is set at the organisation level, described next.

Organization

On the Organization tab you set the company-level details:

  • Organization Name: your company or team name. This is the name that appears on invoices and receipts, so make sure it matches the legal or trading name your finance team expects.
  • Organization Email: the contact address for the organisation. Billing-related email, such as receipts, is sent here, so point it at an inbox a human or your finance team actually monitors, not a personal address that might lapse.
  • Timezone: the timezone used to present dates across the account. Invoice dates on the Billing tab are shown with this in mind, so set it to your own region to avoid confusion.
  • Save Organization: writes any change to the three fields above.

Get these right once and your invoices will carry the correct company name, the dates will read in your own timezone, and receipts will land in the right inbox. Now open Billing.

What the Billing tab shows

The Billing tab is a read-only view of the invoices DMARC Engine has issued to your organisation. If you are on the free, self-serve account with no paid arrangement, you may have no invoices listed at all, and that is expected: the platform is fully usable without payment.

There is no plan selector, no usage meter and no next-charge date on this tab, because the product does not manage subscriptions in the browser. The number of domains you can protect is not gated by a plan-based cap in the product; if you have questions about scope or a paid arrangement, contact the team. Use the tab as your receipts archive, not as a place to change what you pay.

Invoice history and downloading invoices

The Billing tab is your invoice history: a list of every invoice DMARC Engine has issued to your organisation, most recent first. This is your self-service receipts archive, available whenever your finance team or your accountant asks for proof of payment.

Invoices are entered by our team out of band as part of your arrangement, so each entry in the history represents one billing event we have raised for you. For every invoice in the list there is a download control. Click it to download that invoice as a file you can save, forward or attach to an expense claim. Because the history is kept on the account, you do not need to dig through email to find an old receipt: every invoice the team has raised is here to download again at any time.

Practical tips for working with the invoice history:

  • For expense reconciliation, download invoices as they appear in the history so your records stay in step with what has been billed.
  • For audits or finance reviews, the full history gives you a complete paper trail of what your organisation has paid and when, in one place.
  • Check the organisation details first. The company name and contact address on each invoice come from the Organization tab, so if an invoice shows the wrong name, fix it on Organization before the next one is raised; existing invoices are historical records and reflect the details as they were at the time.

If you expected an invoice that is not in the list, it may simply be that none has been raised yet: a free, self-serve account with no paid arrangement will not have generated one. If you believe an invoice is missing, contact the team.

Changing or cancelling a paid arrangement

There is no in-product flow to upgrade, downgrade, change a payment method or cancel. The product has no self-serve checkout or subscription management, so you will not find an Upgrade Plan, Manage Subscription or Cancel button on this tab.

For anything that affects a paid arrangement, contact the team:

  • Starting or expanding a paid arrangement, for example if you need partner pricing, consolidated billing or a managed-service (MSP) setup.
  • Changing payment or billing details, for example a new card or a different billing entity.
  • Reducing or cancelling a paid arrangement if you no longer need it.

A note worth holding in mind: stopping a paid arrangement is not the same as deleting your configuration. Ending billing does not by itself remove the domains and hosted records you have set up. If your aim is to stop protecting a specific domain, do that on the /domains page using the Delete action there, which asks you to type the domain name to confirm. Changing your overall arrangement is a separate conversation with the team.

How billing connects to the rest of the platform

Billing is a record of what you have been invoiced; it does not switch features on or off in the product. The day-to-day platform is usable on the free, self-serve account, and your invoice history simply documents any paid arrangement you have with the team.

  • Domains. You add and manage domains on /domains. See adding your first domain for the onboarding flow. If you have questions about how many domains your arrangement covers, contact the team.
  • The protections themselves. The day-to-day work of getting to an enforced policy is the same regardless of any paid arrangement: monitor, fix your senders, then tighten. That journey is covered in the enforcement journey and the per-standard docs for hosted DMARC, hosted SPF, hosted DKIM, hosted MTA-STS and hosted BIMI.
  • Team access. Who can see billing is a function of roles, set on the Team tab and explained in team and roles. Keep billing in the hands of administrators.
  • Notifications. Receipts go to the Organization Email, but operational alerts about your domains are delivered through the channels you configure on the Notifications tab; see setting up alerts.

Because signup is free, the free tools let you assess your current posture at any time: run the DMARC checker, the SPF checker, the DKIM checker, the MTA-STS checker and the BIMI checker against your domain, read a sample report with the DMARC report analyzer, and understand a record's tags with the DMARC generator. They cost nothing and they tell you how much work each domain will be.

Common questions and quick fixes

A short troubleshooting list for the situations that bring most people to this tab.

  • I cannot see the Billing tab. You are probably not an administrator. Roles are managed on the Team tab; ask an administrator on your account to change your role, then reload /settings. Roles are explained in team and roles.
  • My invoice shows the wrong company name. Invoice details come from the Organization tab. Fix Organization Name there and click Save Organization; the correction applies to invoices raised from then on. Past invoices are historical records.
  • There are no invoices in my history. That is normal on a free, self-serve account with no paid arrangement. If you expected an invoice and it is missing, contact the team.
  • I want to start, change or cancel a paid arrangement. There is no in-product flow for this. Contact the team, who manage paid arrangements out of band.
  • I need partner pricing or a managed-service (MSP) setup. MSP is a partner arrangement (partner pricing, consolidated billing and reporting) handled with the team rather than a self-serve white-label product. Contact the team to set it up.

A sensible billing routine

You do not need to live on this tab, but a light habit keeps surprises away.

  1. When you first set up the account, fill in Organization Name, Organization Email and Timezone on the Organization tab so your invoices and dates are correct from the start.
  2. When a new invoice appears in your invoice history, download it for your records.
  3. Keep the Organization details current so future invoices carry the right name and reach the right inbox.
  4. If anything about a paid arrangement needs to change, contact the team rather than looking for a button on this tab.

Do that and the Billing tab does its job quietly in the background, leaving you free to focus on the actual goal: getting every domain to an enforced DMARC policy without breaking a single legitimate email. For the wider journey, start at getting started and work through to the enforcement journey.
